Its that time again.
Old man winter has staked his claim on all points of
the globe. Alaska has been hit really hard over the
past several weeks with huge snow falls in the 4-6
foot range over Thompson Pass and the surrounding
areas. Check out a few of our web cams and
weather sites for confirmation of that. It looks as
though the snow will continue to fall.
If you have not made
your spring heli ski plans as of yet, I can only
encourage you to do so. This may be the season in
Alaska that you do not want to miss.
Points
North is holding a 3 day informal camp here
at Squaw Valley USA in Lake Tahoe. This camp
is designed for you to come to our home
mountain prior to your trip with us in
Alaska.
We are calling it an informal camp
as there will not be any video or sit down
class room instruction. Just good old
fashioned skiing and riding with the crew of
Points North. Most of our team members
reside here in Squaw Valley and many are
either Senior Patrollers and/or members of
the Squaw Valley Free Ride Team.
Needless to say our knowledge of the
mountain and its surroundings can only guarantee you
a time like no other. Of course, the après
time at the end of each day will be a good time in
it self with the addition of the new village here at
Squaw.

Points
North is proud to announce the first ever Chugach
Crossing. We are opening up our land at PNH 2
and all points in-between. Over the past couple
years we have been monitoring the snow pack and
weather patterns of our latest endeavor at PNH 2.
This year 8 lucky guests will get to join in
the naming adventure.
Guests will fly
into Anchorage International airport on Saturday the
18th of February. All guests will then embark of the
2 1/2 hour drive to PNH 2 early Sunday morning the
19th. The A-Star will be waiting for you. You will
then have the 19th - 24th (6 days at PNH 2) to help
open our new land. Saturday the 24th we will then
head to Valdez, via the heli or shuttle and name our
way to the sound. A shuttle will be available for
transportation to Valdez in the event weather does
not allow us to fly across the glacier. From there
you have 5 more ski days in and around Valdez before
we fly to Cordova on the 1st.
The idea here is
ski and fly as much of the Chugach range as
possible. The distance from PNH 2 - Valdez is just
under 80 miles or so and then Cordova is another
additional 35 miles or so, depending upon the
direction we fly. One could ski from both locations
in a single day, however, with so much land
in-between the 3 locations, we have decided to
connect all of the dots. This way you will have the
opportunity to explore the best of the Chugach and
be flexible with the weather patterns. We will be
mobile.
This the first ever
trip and we ask that those of you involved are
advanced riders. This is the first ever trip with
guests into the new PNH 2 zone. This is a once in a
lifetime opportunity!
Cordova still has a
few spots left available for the spring. I know I
have spoken to many of you that intend on coming to
Cordova again this year. If you do not have your
time locked down as of yet, you have to give us a
call. Currently we have several weeks completely
sold out. We will be running all 3 of our beautiful
A-Star helicopters again for your enjoyment.

Wondering where
you should go
heli-skiing? |

It seems as though
each Alaska Operator has something that sets them
apart. Many things remain true for all of us
operating in Alaska. No one has created that
special weather pattern that creates blue bird skies
each day or can claim that their land is more unique
or larger. All of us in Alaska access the
incredible Chugach Mountains and all of us get the
same unique snow pack that the Gulf of Alaska can
only produce.
The big difference
that separates Points North Heli from the rest is
simple:
For
those of you currently making a
decision about your upcoming trip to
Alaska, I can only hope that Points
North is your choice for an
adventure beyond dreams.
